Grand Prix

September 7th - Cancelled

November 16th - Fast Traxx Motoplex

The September 7th Grand Prix event scheduled at Chip Chop Ridge has been cancelled. The land owner informed me that he is selling the land where I held the Team Harescramble in November and the May 25th Grand Prix. I was concerned that if I didn’t cancel the event until the last minute and I couldn’t find another location to hold the event a great racing weekend would be wasted. I have turned the date into District 11 so it can be used by another promoter. Check the district 11 website for the new promoter and location. As of now the November 16th Grand Prix is still scheduled. I am currently looking for another facility to hold that event. If I can’t find a suitable location the event will be turned into District 11 as well.

The November 1st and 2nd Team Harescramble Championship of the World will take place at the Fast Traxx Motoplex in Nelsonville, Ohio. Click on the Team Harescramble link for info on that event.

Action Sports held Ohio’s first grand Prix event in 2003. Since then a great deal of off road and motocross riders have come to appreciate the GP format; and the attendance is growing. The 2.5 to 4 mile GP race course combines natural terrain motocross, grass track and harescramble sections. A Grand Prix event is usually less demanding, wider and faster than a normal harescramble and provides more seat time than a motocross, with each racing session lasting about an hour. The format and classes are structured so that most riders can compete in one or two sessions and still only spend two to three hours at the track.

Other promoters including Dynamic Promotions, Fast Traxx, Wildwood Lake and the Athens Motorcycle Club will host GP events this season as well. For more information on their events go to the District 11 website, www.district11ama.com and click on the promoters name under the “Clubs and Promoters” button. There you can find race information or the promoters contact info.

Give it a try if you haven’t already, and see how much fun Grand Prix racing really is. Hope to see you there.
